THIS WAS A POEM I WROTE FOR MY SON'S THERAPISTS. HE IS AUTISTIC AND
WHEN HIS HOME-BASED SERVICES ENDED I WANTED TO SAY "THANK YOU" IN A
MEANINGFUL WAY!

Because of you I can see
See the world that is around me.
You helped to break the walls down
I no longer sit alone with a frown

Because of you I can see
That a lot of people love me
You helped me to understand
To not be afraid of the touch of a hand

Because of you I can see
It's good to play appropriately
You showed me fun new things
Like animals, cars, and swings.

Because of you I can see
That there is a voice inside of me
You told my mom to never give up hope
And then one day I SPOKE!

Because of you I can see
That hard work will set you free
You were always so patient and willing to try
I'm sorry for all the times I just screamed and cried.

Because of you I can see
There are angels watching over me
You were always there to guide and protect
Always pushing me to the next step

Because of you I can see
There is a bright future in front of me
You are a part of who I am and who I will be
Such a blessing you have been to my family
