I Love You
by Lisa Howard
The first time you looked at me
I knew
That I would love no one
Like I would love you
You were an angel sent from up above
To show me what love really was

I had visions of who you’d grow up to be
I prayed that you’d love music
Just like me
I thought of you as the football star
I knew already that you’d go so far

This thing called autism
Tore my dreams apart
It took away all the hope for your future
I cannot hope for things that may never come to be
But what I can do
Oh what I can do
I s always love you

I started thinking you would never speak
But then one day you said “mama”
Looking right up at me
All the dreams I thought were lost
Came flooding back into my heart

Autism won’t tear apart my hope
Ever again
I’ll work hard everyday
I’ll help you find your way
I can’t tell you what your future holds
But what I can do
Oh what I can do
Is always love you

If we all keep our hope alive
If we all look deep into their eyes
We’ll see they’re not lost forever
No they’re not lost forever

Lets not let autism tear apart our worlds
Lets work hard everyday
To help them find their ways
No one may ever be able to help us find a cure
But what we can do
Oh what we can do
Is give all our love
To all of you!
